Read Point Alignment

I have just started doing read point alignments because it is easier for the non CMM people to run a program. I wrote a read point alignment program without any problem. Now I am writing a program and the CAD is in car position. I create the read point and align the point, I get an error stating the position is out. Is a read point alignment different when using CAD in car position?

  • not a good idea to program in machine co-ordinates. It won't run if the part isn't in the exact same place every time.

I never use read-points, but MAYBE, just maybe, you can edit the THEO of the read point to it's 'cad position' then you wouldn't have to do the CAD=PART.

I use CAD=PART in every alignment program I make, have for over 30 years (since we switched to Pcdmis from VAL-MEAS 200)
