But I am curious if it is possible to only have one datum like this for profile? Lets say they don't care about the height of the boss, and they only care about the centrality to C.
Entirely possible. C would be a 3d Width controlling 3 degrees of freedom (two rotations and one translation). The profile would be free to optimize the remaining three, rotation about the width (adding A as a secondary would stop that rotation), translation along the width (in and out of the page in your screenshot) and translation perpendicular to the width (up and down in your screenshot- again, adding A as a secondary would fix that).
