But I am curious if it is possible to only have one datum like this for profile? Lets say they don't care about the height of the boss, and they only care about the centrality to C.
Gotcha. Our previous programmer used GeoTol command to a centerLINE of C. It seemed like it was reporting bad results. Do you think it was using that line to LEVEL? If I recall correctly, we were .017 OOT. Do you think 3D width is a must, instead of a midline?

A line would control different degrees of freedom than a width so, yes, I'd say a 3D width for datum C is the correct way to go for the primary, with a plane for datum A as the secondary.
