CMM measuring dimensions incorrectly

PC-DMIS 2020R1

I am having an issue with the CMM measuring dims out of tolerance. Screen shot of the CMM report is attached. A lot of these programs are from 2017 or 2018. They are not using CAD models. The CMM was calibrated Aug 2023. I'm very stuck on what else to look into.

I thought maybe it was a migration issue but this is a recent issue. Within the last 8 months.

I tried setting the FCF instead of using the x,y and z from measurements. i tried using the back up program. program is using a star probe so i switched it to a rotating probe, still didn't work.

  • I got on the phone with Shay and we determined that it is a probe issue.
We did all the standard checks:
    1. shut down machine
    2. rehome
    3. recalibrate the tips at the same time (Shay had been calibrating 1 probe at a time)
    4. we took some quick manual hits on a 246 block and there was clearly a massive difference from one probe to all the others.
    5. Shay is going to change that probe tip out, recalibrate, and repeat the same 246 block check to see if that changes anything.

Shay sent me the program and some other results and I could see a pattern of one particular probe measuring things with a greater deviation than the others.

We'll get them straightened out ! Slight smile
