I took over a bunch of programs with 2 readpoint start for free state parts months ago. Here attached 2 examples.
Since the programs move the origin to one point and then to rotate. It always has some issues on missing the target or going too deep to crash. So I have to have a large prehit and retact, but still has issues sometime because operators have different style when they read the points( some very deep, some not deep enough)
Can't you instruct your operator to rotate the part so the slot is at 6/12(closest/furthest from operator view) and just have the probe start at the slot? You would have a less rough idea of where the rest of the part should be AND it would reduce readpoint use/drive time.
The surface of the part is not flat with some studs or nuts between datum B and datum C. Probe can not search datum C from Datum B in a reasonable time frame.
