Any easy way to calculate feature different math type results?

Hello all. Happy Thursday afternoon, sunny 20 degree in Southern Ontario Canada

I have to measure a customer return part with a inside circle. PE wants different math type results. I could measure same feature lots of time with different selections. I wonder whether I could measure once and calculate the rest, since all points data are there.

Can we?

I would think all you'd have to do is measure the circle, and then use the point data to construct several different circles with different fits.

Just an ID? Or what other features do they want the different math types? And do they want different math types used for alignments too? Or just the features? And what math types? But what Dismas121 said. You could measure the ID with LEAST SQUARES and just pull the point data for the individual hits out and assign to variables and construct circle using the different math types.

Thank you so much. So use variables to construct all those points, then construct features with different type math.

We still have issues with all those hole size from CMM reports. QAs are asked to check with pin gauges or calipers if the size is big. Does it make sense to convert all those 8 points check circle ( Which uses least_sqr and fails for size very often )to MAX_INSC to avoid those QA re-measurement with caliper?

I wouldn't go to the trouble of constructing all those points. Just use

MEASURED_CIRCLE.HIT[1..MEASURED_CIRCLE.NUMHITS]

in the constructed circles.

Yes that is what you would want to do! Pcdmis will return the largest diameter pin that would fit in the hole. You could also use Dismas’s array method if you didn’t want to create the generic points, more simplified! I would report both the least squares and max inscribed diameters.

In this case, I often create a feature set with hits, and then construct different features from it.

Shorten the syntax:

MEASURED_CIRCLE.HIT[..]

...will use all hits of MEASURED_CIRCLE.
