Cylinder with 2 points

Hello All

From training material, Cylinder has 2+2 to constrain. and 2 points have 2 translational DOF, total 4 +2. So alignment should:
Level to axis of the cylinder.
rotate Point C to Point B
rotate an angle to align the machine coordinate system.
Transfer X,Y Z?

  • No. From your chart, cylinder locks 2 rotation and 2 translations. 2 points will lock 2 translations. You are still missing 1 rotation lock. One of your points is redundant because the cylinder already locks that translation.

    However, you can have two points be on the same plane and create a line perpendicular with the cylindrical axis which will then lock all 6 DOFs.
