Organizing many features in Summary View instead of using Path Optimization (2019 R1)

So...

I finally managed to get path optimization to work and it's a great feature to have to speed up flow of CMM measurements to save time!
I found the trick to be removing any dimension locations and having just the theo, act, targets, settings and contact settings for each feature you create.
Then the program is able to quickly find the shortest path, before having location dimensions it would throw up errors and never finish.

As far as Organizing features in Summary mode manually....

I have to drag each feature one at a time and that works which is great but super time consuming when there are a ton of features involved.
Instead, I tried holding down ctrl and selecting the ones I need which it allows me to do, then I wanted to drag them to the top of my routine but it won't allow it.

Is there a way to do this another way or do newer versions of DMIS work better? (screen shot attached)

  • I agree. Moving features around in summary mode is great. It can save so much time when editing programs.

I don't know if the very newest versions of the software will let you move or copy/paste non-continuous selections, but I can tell you that the limitation still exists on v2020R1(the version I'm still using). v2020R1 has two types of summary mode. A revised version of what you are using and also a preview mode of what I think is now standard. I get the same error in both modes when trying to move non-continuous selections.

It sure would be nice to be able to do that.
