Before i ask anything, i should probably mentioned that running the CMM is not my usual job, i'm just supporting for a short period.
I'm currently measuring an automotive part, and need to understand where some points on a surface is.
My process so far is as follows:
- Position part on CMM table
- Set CAD axis to Machine axis
- Manual Iterative alignment on 7 points (i'm using 1 extra for level) to find the part
- DCC Iterative alignment on actual datum targets (x3 holes on the part)
- Take points in areas of interest
- Output measurements
Everything seems to be going good so far, however i've come across a minor issues with the measurements.
My measurements are showing the nominal's, and measured values relative to the car line coordinate system.
What i want to do is show these measurements relative to CAD model instead. So for example on attached image, i'm getting the following:
After you align the part to the cad model (no matter what position the cad model is in) simply make a NEW alignment, picking the features you have measured that you want to be zero (and NOT the cad model values) and origin to them, no level, no rotate, just origin to the feature(s) you want to be ZERO, and you are done. Make the dimensions to that alignment
