With my previous experience with other CMM OS, I was able to program off-line ahead of the part hitting QA. I've also had access to off-line seats. Is there any way to run PC DIMS (2022.2) on the CMM in an Off-Line mode?
Offline seats are available. It's been a long time since we bought but they were around $13k 6 or 8 years ago.
Don't know if this trick still works but you used to be able to open an existing program and then start a new program offline. The CMM is tied up with your program but it used to work in a pinch.
Yes, you can either procure an offline seat of the software, and have it dedicated on a PC/Laptop.
or
you can simply open a routine "online" on a machine, then open/create the new routine whilst the online routine is open. From there, with the second routine open, it's entirely virtual/offline programming.
Want it back online? save it down. close it. Close the online routine then just open your new routine first.
OR, in the open window, select the OFFLINE interface option instead of "machine1" or CMM1, or whatever they call it.
You do NOT need to open an ONLINE program first. You DO need to be connected to a booted up and working controller if you don't have an offline license.
I have open CMM time, the step file and the print. I just want to get the program done before the part is available. I do have experience programming offline in PC DIMS and Zone3. The company I currently work for isn't going to purchase an offline set. The don't need to at this time. I will try to locate the offline interface option.
