Auto Cleaning Probes

I once looked into this one:

I didn't end up buying it because the majority of our probe trees are too complex to use it.
But I can imagine if you only have simple probe builds it could be very useful.

While they have programs for Mitutoyo machines you can use the unit with any Software, you just need to program the movements yourself.

Says on the homepage that its been added to Hexagon machines.
Looks like its just using a sensor to trigger air blast on and off, then just write a lil loop of code to dip the probe up and down. Likely could be added to any machine since it probably doesn't interface with the machine at all.

Perhaps you could cozy up with the McMaster catalog and someone with a 3d printer and save yourself a bundle.

I have worked with a customer to implement one of the probe cleaning systems mentioned by Aaron Baldauf on a Hexagon Global CMM.   We located the probe cleaner on the CMM so it could be permanent and then had a program to teach the location and save that via an external alignment command.    Then at the end of each program, you can recall the alignment and clean the probes used in that program by doing several move commands.   The cleaning station itself is activated when the probe passes through the little sensor on it.   Pretty easy to set up.
