Probe naming rules

The same rules apply throughout PC-DMIS.  Always start with an alphabetical character, no spaces, no mathematical symbols, no special characters.  Underscores are permitted.

Yikes, I guess I have some work to do.  So I can't just rename the probes right?  I have to build them all from scratch again and change the load probe command in all the programs?

Also, what do you typically do to name a 1.5 mm ball probe?  I was using a space before since it won't allow a period.  Are commas also bad?

We did something silly like _5x20 for our half mil. 

1.5 would work as 1_5x20mm, just have to always do them the same way at your company.

If you want to re-name rather than rebuild all of your probe files, you would need to close PC-DMIS, navigate to your probe folder using windows explorer and rename them there.  Then launch PC-DMIS, open each of your routines and replace the old prob file name with the new one.  Once you have done them all, you will need to close PC-DMIS again, go back to your probe folder and delete the old probe files.  The reason for this is that when you open a routine and the probe file doesn't exist, PC-DMIS will re-create an empty probe file with that name.
