PC-DMIS 2023.1 - Three bugs with the auto point self centering strategy

May I ask what the status on these three bugs is? Could they be reproduced on Hexagons side?

what about using basic scan/center ?

I didn't try those this time. I used them a long time ago but I find the auto feature ones to be more descriptive.
The creation window and the help file of the basic center scan doesn't describe the difference between "plane" and "axis" option very well.

The auto point is very good in this regard (2d vs 3d with a picture).

Our test engineer verified the first two items - Hexagon internal ref PCD-256697 & PCD-256698.

I'm not sure whether the third item is a bug or not.  In many cases, you would not want the cut vector to change so that might be working as designed.

Regarding the 3rd point, I don't think I'm following you here.

I just tested it with the basic center scan and there the cut vector gets recalculated when using an angle offset in paste with pattern.
The same happens also with linear open scans. See picture below.

I think you'd only want to pattern the cut vector if it differed from the surface vector - something like this kind of part...

In order to centre correctly on each tooth, the cut vector would need to pattern around.

Yes, I fully agree. But this is exactly how the other scans (linear open and center scan) work right now.

They change the cut vector if needed and if not they leave it.

I mean if the cut vector is K = 1 and my workplane is in Z+ rotating the the point around will always keep the cut vector at 1.
The problem now is, that my cut vector J = 1 while my workplane is in Z+. I would expect the cut vector to change when my pattern is a rotational offset.

I can't imagine an occasion where one would not want to change the cut vector in this case.

Because of this I still think this is a bug (or bad design) and should be fixed.

Created another ticket (PCD-256718) to look at the third item.
