POSITION OF A CYLINDER USING EXACT MEASURE..

How do I edit the USE AXIS = WORST? I don't see anywhere I can change this unless I report it using legacy.

  • You're trying to determine the position of this cylinder, and when you choose the element under test to be a cylinder, the system has to calculate its maximum deviation. You can try other methods, I suggest you use multiple circles to evaluate, find the worst data. This data is the same as when using cylinders (USE AXIS = WORST).

    Cricle 1=0.025

    Cricle 2=0.035

    Cricle 3=0.045

    Cricle 4=0.055

    Cylinder  close to 0.055

  • Feature control frame reporting always reports the worst end of the axis for a cylinder because that is how position is supposed to be reported.  When the Ø symbol is shown in the feature control frame, it is a cylindrical tolerance zone.  All points on the measured feature must sit within the tolerance zone with the reported value being the worst point along the axis.  If you were to only report one end, you would be at risk of passing bad parts because you are not considering where the other end of the cylinder sits.
