Inserting a picture into the cmm report

I would like to have a picture defining the meaning behind UAME, Local size circular Dimensions, Local Sized Opposed Points, Max inscribed, Min Circumscribed inserted into my CMM Reports. I already Have the picture so I just need to know how to have put into the report. Would it be the same way we do our company logos or is there a better way

  • I would create a report label containing the image.  Then you can use Insert>Report Command>Report Label to add it to the report.  The advantage of doing it that way is that it's re-usable across multiple routines, you can add the image wherever you need to and as many times as you need to within the report and, if you ever need to change the image, you just change it on the label.

These are the steps to create the label...

    1)   Go to File>Reporting>New>Label template.

    2)   Drag & drop the image icon onto the label.

    3) click load and navigate to the image (.bmp or .jpg).  Markign the "Link" checkbox will dynamically link to the image.

    4) Resize if necessary.

    5) Go to File>SaveAs and give it a name.

    6) You will see this prompt.  You can click No and manually add the label to reports as I previously described or click Yes to create rules to automatically use this label for certain types of command.

  • Hey Neill, I tried this before, and just tried it again out of curiosity. Is there a image type restriction in 2021.2 vs 2022.2? I don't really think there is, but I tried to put in a .jpg and I get this error. It originally was not generated as a jpg, I changed the file extension from PNG.

I now realize that if the image was not originally generated in that format it throws an error, and changing the file extension does not work. I'm not sure of the intricacies of image formatting, so I'll be wary of that from now on.

  • As you've found, you can't just change the file extension, you actually have to save the image in a supported format.
