SP25 Calibration! (again... yes I searched the forum)

We just had our machine refurbished, new scales and encodes and controller, everything!

Now we are trying to work through our initial probe calibrations and keep encountering this wonderful error message.

Seemingly none of the other poster here were able to get resolution to this message, however it's also very possible I missed it.

This is one of the probe builds.

These are the parameters we are using, looks like it matches the data sheet the Hex tech provided. The max force is a bit higher as that matched our settings from before.

So far it looks like only the probes using the SM-4 modules outright fail, some of the others are definitely missing some of the scan points.

Probe builds are new.
Machine is "new".
PCDMIS is a fresh install on a new PC.
Hexagon tech who was here with is said "as long as you are not planning to scan with those tips just keep hitting ok" but was otherwise unable to correct the issue.

sounds like you need to get them BACK RIGHT AWAY!

If the tech set up the machine and couldn't get them to calibrate correctly, THEN HE DIDN'T DO HIS JOB RIGHT!

just to cover all the bases, if all the others will calibrate correctly, and it is just the SM-4 module, maybe it is bad and needs to be replaced.

Calibration works as expected, just does not collect scan data for some of the scans.

From memory, there is a controller setting that determines the maximum amount of allowable deflection. The SP25-4 modules sometimes exceed the default value and it needs to be opened up. Take a look in the machine interface installation manual (MIIMs) in the help files.

The force values in the parameter settings are global for all modules.

You need to go into the PC-DMIS settings editor and adjust them for the longer SM modules.

RenishawCalibration_SP25SM4_ScanOffsetForce 1&2

You will need to lower the values compared to the parameter settings.

Adjust the values and then perform a calibration.

I recommend doing this at both A0B0 and A90B0 to make sure the values can handle the deflection of the probe under its own weight.

I have had this problem too. Only with my SM25-4 modules and only once in a while. Thanks David_Campbell , I had no idea these setting existed.
