TTP Plane Circle Strategy slow/lags

Hi all,

Why is the TTP Plane Circle Strategy so slow to measure points? It dwells between hits and is noticeably slower than all other feature strategies I use. I realize I can just create measured plane features, but I'd like to use the Auto Plane strategy if it wasn't so slow. Anybody else have this problem?

  • I am pretty sure the slower circular is due to prehit and retract settings.  when using non-circular moves, it doesn't have to calculate where to go next and how to get there as the retract is meaningless, no matter where the retract ends up being, it only needs to know the 'goto' for the next prehit, whereas when using circular, it has to calculate the drive-arc based on where it currently is after the retract to get to the next prehit.  none of that is needed when it is just 'point to point' movements.  I think it is a hold-over from when the retract was a relative location based on the touch instead of an absolute location based on theoreticals.
