PC-DMIS 2023.1 storing CAD Crash

Hello All,

Recently on our shop floor CMM we have been having issues when closing programs, as it is saving the program and closing it stores the CAD. In our case while its storing the CAD, the program crashes and corrupts the CAD file. Program will no longer open after this happens, we need to delete the cad file from the file explorer and re import it to get it to work. anyone have this happen, and if so what was the solution/ work around?

Maybe set the CAD as read-only, within windows?

How big are the CAD files and are you saving locally or to a network / one drive location? You could try "Save CAD as reference"

This will save a link to the CAD file rather than saving a new copy of it every time - so you will basically just have a single CAD instance rather than many.

Is it good practice to "save cad as reference"? I do it but I never know why.

in order to save it as CAD REFERENCE, you have to save it as a NEW program (notice, his image is SAVE AS TYPE), and if you have to follow any tracability requirements, that puts the stop to that.

It's more useful for people who are saving multiple copies of the same routine - those that save after each execution for example.
