Redo alignment after tip rotation?

If I do a DCC alignment to the part's datums in A90B180, then rotate the tip to A90B0 to use DCC mode to measure something else, do I need to re do the DCC alignment from scratch? Assume calibration is good on all tips and tip angles. I have heard you need to re-measure everything in the alignment, and I have heard you do not. It seems like a huge waste of time to me.  It seems like our CMM program cycle times are all double what they need to be.  Using PC-DMIS 2023 on a Global S Chrome.

  • If you are chasing sub 0.0005" tolerances, re-measuring datums after a probe rotation will mitigate any additional variation caused by probe angle/calibration changes.
--So it really depends on what kind of reproducibility/accuracy you are needing to quantify.   IMHO if you have 0.005" tolerances, yes it's a complete waste of time.
