Does PC-DMIS support silent / pass-through measurements?

Within an existing PC-DMIS program, we want to add some measurements which are not to be used to evaluate final pass/fail inspection result.
We do want these values to appear in the same PC-DMIS report as well.
Is there a way to do this in PC-DMIS?
Thanks

  • Can you elaborate a bit on what you would like to do? This data can be implemented as easily as your data that is used for the primary evaluation. Just add a big comment stating "reference only dimensions below" or "do not consider these dimensions below for pass/fail criteria". Unless your method for reporting has set the parameters for Pass / Fail criteria once program finishes execution

  • We want to be able to have the probe measure a point and identify pass/fail and have PC-DMIS record the measurement information in its report, but not "count" this measurement in its final evaluation of overall pass/fail.

  • Will this point be part of an already existing feature? If it's just a single point you're taking and want to add it to the report you can do that.

Can you paste an example of what you would like PC-DMIS to do within the edit window or something? All pass fail criteria is set by the user when typing in nominals and tolerances, I need more to go off of to help you set it exactly how you'd like.

  • I found out recently that if a dimension feature has its output setting set to "NONE", it will not be added to PC-DMIS's internal NUMOOT counter if the feature is out of tolerance.  So, that might be a way to dimension a feature without it being counted in an automated pass/fail check.  Unfortunately, to see those measurement results you would need to look in the edit window because it would not show up on the outputted report or SPC software.
