Importing CAD no Coordinate System over original program

Whenever we import a new cad model, we always move the part to where the origin is from the previous CAD. Usually it doesn't move that much. If we use a circle for the origin, that same circle should be at 0, 0, 0. Select auto circle, and click on that same circle. If that circle is 1, 2.5, 0 on the imported CAD, I would just translate it -1 X and -2.5 Y, and then rotate your CAD as needed if it isn't rotated to the correct orientation. This is a very basic explanation. Others will explain it better than I.

Also if you have CAD software then its usually much easier to move the origin to the proper location and export a fresh IGES.

If you do not have CAD software then start a fresh program with your new model, then run through all the transformations that are needed. Once the origin is correct just hit save. Open your old program and import a new model, select CAD file type, navigate to where you saved the "new" program and steal its .CAD file with import/replace.

I think you're attempting to add a new CAD model to an old program that didn't have any CAD. Or you have a cad program which needs to be updated with new CAD model. If it is so, then start a new routine and import new CAD, set the origin on it as per your old program primary alignment using CAD transform option. Save the routine at a particular location then open the old program and import cad. Browse the new CAD program saved location and import the CAD model. Then you will have your new model in accordance with your old routine. Wisely choose the option for merge & replace.
