Newbie Question: PCDMIS Probe Toolpath

Hi all,
I'm new to Hexagon Metrologies equipment and PCDMIS, I come from an OGP background and non NC. I am new to PCDMIS and am having a go at teaching myself prior to going on my first training course.

I've programmed in a small test program to test a gauge calibration slip (something nice and simple to begin with. I have no CAD data for this and so am using just NC.

I can measure the item manually, but then I go to run it as a program. Assume I am measuring a square, take a line off the X and then go to measure a point on the Y, the toolpath takes the most direct route and crashes into the item.

How do I set the toolpath so to speak for the probe (so that it does not crash), how do I tell it to report to point x,y,z then to point x,y,z and then to drop down to take the point?

Thanks.

Tom
