Help! Bumped Romer Arm won't recalibrate

I just got a call from our Alabama plant, and it seems they let the elbow drop on the table hard enough to throw the arm out so that now, the best calibration they can get on the 15mm probe is 0.5mm, and the length checks are coming up bad. Here's 5 sets of length check results:

Apparently it happened 2 days ago and they waited till now to call me. That plant is shutting down tomorrow for 2 weeks (no exceptions), and Romer wants us to send the arm to them for recalibration.

Is there another option? Can I get him back up and running by this afternoon? Anybody with sugggestions, I would be very grateful.

Thanks

  • I think you are up the proverbial creek on that one.

Yeah, I kinda suggested that to him already. It sounds like an encoder problem, and well I would give it a try if I was there, that's new territory for me. The only reason I'd try is that it has to be sent out anyway, so why not give it a shot. Thanks for the truth Matt.
