New to CAD models

Would someone please explain to me the very basics about how to upload the CAD model and do a basic alignment on precision tubing, just the basics, I am an experienced surface plate inspector and I have used CMM's quite a lot, but--- NOT using CAD models. Please help

Pretty much the same as you would do with a print, the only difference is that you use the cad model as the source for your nominal data.
  • Hi John.

    1. Fill out your additional info per the sticky to help everyone help you.
    2. Refer back to the lab manual you received during training (you do hopefully have some PC-DMIS training, even if a really long time ago, the labs always had CAD).

Measuring tubes with CAD should require the use of cylinders. Read the help about cylinders and search this forum for old posts about tubes and cylinders.
  • Try measuring the tube sections as 3D-circles and then create a 3D-line through the circles. You can get really funny results if you are going the cylinder route...
