Tranparent After a Scan

I have a model and a cloud of points over the whole thing and both before and after I do a face colormap I can see through the part and see the points that are scanned on the opposite side of the part as well as the points that are on the side of the part that I am actually viewing. It also says that I am missing points over areas that are clearly full of points. Yes the transparency of the part is turned off and I have had the same settings on parts before that it did not do this with. I have tried re-opening the program tried changing the transparency on it and still no changes. Any help with this would be great
  • And I guess I am not so much worried about the transparency because I when I hid the COP it looks fine. I am more so wondering why it is telling me that I don't have enough scanned data even though the part is covered completely. I mean I understand a few spots here and there but there is a half of a face that I know there are points and the software is telling me I don't have anything. And it seems to change every time that I re try the face colormapping, sometimes it will have more color and sometimes it will have less.
  • In 2011 MR1 CUSTOM under Edit, Graphics Dislpay, Lighting and Materials, on the OPEN GL tab there is a button that says PointCloud always Visibile. Uncheck that and you will only see the points on your side of the surfaces.

You will also want to turn off Two sided lighting on the Lighting and materials tab so that you can see surfaces that are pointing the wrong way and correct them before you colormap. It sounds like your CAD has some surfaces pointing in the wrong direction.
  • Thanks ArmUser, but pointcloud always visible is NOT checked and already did the CAD vector fix. It does have something to do with the laser scanned points though, because the points I take with the hard probe can NOT be seen through the model, only the pointcloud. Also when this happens, if I try to do a colormap, the entire model disappears and I do not get a colormap either. I'm just left with a cloud of points.

Some models do this and others do not.

This did work, just had to check it and accept and then go back and uncheck it again and all is good now.
