2011MR1 Win7: non Admin user and app: slow taking points.

Does WinRDS mean "remote desktop service"? If so, can you explain your system setup?

Edit: to answer your direct question: our operators must login to win7 using normal user accts as well. Pcdmis can not be run with admin priveliges. We do not have this problem on Sheffield or Zeiss interfaces.

I saw a similar problem when I was running on Win7 without admin rights. It also refused to print a report in that mode. I spoke with our IT department and they set it up to run as administrator and as you have noticed, the problems all cleared up.

I have seen this issue on both portable and bridge CMM versions of PC-DMIS 2011 MR1. There is an issue with how it reacts with the Windows registry depending on whether or not you are logged in as administrator. It seems to be isolated to Windows 7, but, just as strange it reacts differently among different pc's of the same brand, model, configuration. There are two things here that you can look into. 1. There were at one time, two different installer packages out there for 2011 MR1. One of them is buggy as all get out, the other works pretty good as long as it is launched under administrator. The good installer was labeled 2011 MR1 custom. Now, the next item you can do is handling the administrator problem. Of course you don't want everyone running under an administrator level for obvious reasons, however, your IT guys can create special desktop shortcuts which will launch PC-DMIS as if it is signed in as an administrator. This worked for me, and, I haven't had any issues since. Since the shortcut doesn't give away any information as far as administrator logins, and, it keeps you from having to bug them with it most good IT guys have no problem doing this as it is isolated to this application only. That's about as much as I can offer you, considering your description, that sounds like it would work for you. If your IT has any issues creating the shortcut or anything, let me know and I will be happy to send you the shortcut creation protocol.

Sorry for taking so long to work on this. I have this issue now both when logged in as admin AND logged in as non-admin. I run 2011MR1 Custom.

So here is what I have found over the last few weeks:
1 Contrary to what I said before, this problem happens both admin and non-admin.
2 It only occurs on programmed vector points. Circles are good. If I now had a part with only circles....

I think I have found a clue as to what is going on: when my program opens up, all point labels show in the graphics display. If I turn all labels off, the problem goes away. I can take vector points with regular speed. So could this be a graphics card issue?????

My model is HUGE (192MByte). But when I rotate, there are no delays. Even with labels on. But when I take vector points (with the labels on), the whole thing slows to a crawl, until I turn all labels off.

Any suggestions?

What kind of graphics card are you using, and what model pc? There is a known bug on some of the Dell laptops when dealing with Nvidia cards and the built in chipset. The model being so large doesn't help either and could just be the issue based on your description with turning the labels off. If you are using one of the pc's with the issue however, I can possibly help you to at least make sure you are getting the most out of your hardware.
