Are any of you using the RS1 scanner for reverse engineering? If so, what software are you using for exporting / collecting the pointcloud? We are in the process trying out Rapidform and Geomagic, but, everything we send to them shows large chunks of data missing. When I scan the parts in PC-DMIS, everything is there, I can see it. Geomagic and Rapidform are showing huge chunks missing from my exported files!! Even after coating a part heavily with Magnaflux developer, which, I was led to believe wouldn't be needed with the RS1.
Now, I've heard rumors that using PC-DMIS for this process is not the way, because PC-DMIS can't export the data properly to be used in reverse engineering software as it wasn't designed for this purpose. So, now I have to purchase yet another piece of software to accomplish what I want to do?
If anyone else is doing this process regularly and have had good results, please let me know what you are using. Any feedback would be great.
