True position help

See attached PDF.

I am trying to dimension some true positions. See loc 5 cir 5, has a X reading of .002 and Z reading of -.017. This should give a true position of approx. .034 give or take. Why does the true position come in at .004? I see in the summary that the X deviation matches what I have in the loc. dim., but the Z deviation does not, why is this?

What am I missing here?

  • your datum reference frame doesn't constrain all six degrees of freedom. therefore, pcdmis attempts to best fit your data to the noms.

look at the 'datum shift' area. you can see that the software has rotated the drf in an effort to make the data 'work'.

if you were using a DRF that arrested all six degrees of freedom, the numbers would be more like you expected.
