WinRDS- CALIB error: cannot find probe file

I have an older Romer StingerIIi arm that I mistakenly tried to update from WinRDS to RDS. After figuring out that RDS and the arm are not compatible, it's been painful to try to get WinRDS running again. I've wiped out all references of RDS and followed the instructions for a clean WinRDS (and DOCS) install, including removing references from the registry of the laptop.

I thought I had everything working again as the arm is mostly fine while in DOCS, but I if I try to load the arm utilities program with DOCS open, it tells my the arm isn't connected. Likewise, if I try to start DOCS with the arm utilities program open, DOCS can't find the arm.

In DOCS, if I set the calibration to auto request on probe change, I can get into the calibration program that way and the arm is recognized, but after I complete the calibration measurement sequence, it gives me the following error for all contact and NC probes:

CALIB error: cannot find probe file

my Armdata and Armdata.s6x folders are present within the …/Application Data/Romer/WinRDS folder and have the probes listed in each. The arm configuration is showing the correct file location for the arm data. I'm running XP on a Dell laptop, if that makes any difference.

This was working prior to the attempt at installing RDS, so the either something went wrong with the reinstallation, or RDS is still being referenced somewhere. Any ideas? Any other information that would be helpful?
