Inspecting a profile with a smr and pin nest

I'm trying to figure out how to inspect the profile of a curved surface that's facing away from the laser. I can sit flat on the top surface and set the pin against curved side. Running 2014 with a Faro Ion tracker
  • Can't tell completely from the image but it appears the side facing the laser is flat. Could you try rotating the part 180 degrees so that the curved surface and facing the laser? It would be easier do deal with a blind flat surface then the curved one.
  • I've found Leap frog to be inaccurate, and my company did not purchase the "Bundle Alignment" for our trackers. I am trying to simulate with this test part is what I come across everyday and measure it the same way I with our current LASER software. When I'm working a actual parts most of the time I can't rotate the part or move the laser because of line of sight issues. I have put in a ticket with Hexagon for help, but it was closed without an answer being given. This way of measuring is a must have for our types of parts.
  • You could measure the profile with the pin nest as a "scan" then construct a free form surface from the scan, and then offset it by the diameter of the pin nest and your ccr.
