Mirrored features confusing

I am attempting to use quick start to create an alignment, but when I execute the features, they are floating in space as if they are mirrored to the CAD model. I have attempted numerous times with the same results. What could cause this to happen?

My best guess, without even seeing the part, is you have a plane in your rotation. This can cause this "mirroring" error.

If that's not it, please post some code of your alignment.

  • Place your cursor after the alignment, now what does it look like?

  • First, I appreciate you taking the time to reply to my question. I will explore both possible solutions today. I program/operate a CMM on a daily basis and never had this issue using iterative alignments. Romer is a recent company purchase that I am working with as I have time. Thanks again for your time.
  • What features are using for the Alignment? What do you mean by features floating in space? They are not on the cad as they spose to be?

if you are using a line for rotation in your Align, you need to make sure you are taking the hits right to left or left to right as when you programmed it. I have a hunch that if yiu take a hit right to left for that line, trying taking hits left to right

I never heard of this error this is good to know I don't use planes a lot for rotation but in some cases I do. I was just programming a part where I was having a issue with the paste and pattern where a plane for rotation is being used, I'll have to check it out. Thanks
  • Displaced Points

    Hi everybody

I have the same troubles, when I want to do an alignment with cad, just a few times it works because usually my taken points are displaced to another positions far of my cad, when I'm programing, all the points are in the correct position (circle, plane, cylinder, etc), but when I run the program and i take the points above the physical piece, all the points in my cad are moved to another positions. ... see picture ... any help??

I'm using a laser tracker leica AT402 my alignments are, plane, line, point and best fit, with both is the same error
in the picture you can see all the points and plane displaced. I already checked the work plane, projection plane and some times the error is minor, but always there are errors

    thanks !!
