Tracking lasers pro/cons

We are looking to purchase a new tracking laser. At present we have an older Faro. We are split between Leica and Faro. Opinions?

  • I have used both extensively. If you have the money, Leica is a no brainer. If you are just using it with the standard ball reflectors and or retro-probe, they are about the same functionally and you can't go wrong with either one. However, with the Leica, you can get the T-probe, which blows away the Faro in terms of what you can measure and how fast. You can also get a T-Scan if you want to do laser scanning. The Leica's also seem to be more solid and built from better materials, its like driving a Mercedes compared to a Volkswagen. Hexagon's support is also much better than Faro. But... it all comes down to what you want to pay.
