Single point check inaccurate, how can I check encoders?

When running a single point check, my arm is wildly inaccurate. I've recalibrated the probe and it gives me a .057 - .238 deviation depending on how I check it. After lots of trial and error, I've found that my Z axis swings upwards of .012 when I move the arm itself while keeping the probe in a single point. My best guess is something is wrong with the B axis encoder, but I don't know how to check for sure.

I know this is more on the RDS side and not so much PC-DMIS, but does anyone here know how I can check the encoders?

We've let our service expire with Hexagon so I really want to at the very least be able to find out exactly what's wrong before I try to convince my boss to spend the $5k to renew that license.
