PC-DMIS & Roamer Arm assistance required.

Hi there! I'm brand new into PC-DMIS and I have tons of questions.

I assisted to a course (Arms 101) with PC-DMIS. We just started using the system in the company, we have a 7545 arm. One of my biggest issues is that I barely understood the training besides parts we are required to measure are pipes for exhaust systems and it's getting complicated to measure mainly because I'm not sure how to make alignment for each plane.

Is it possible to get some kind of guide? I want to know the steps to take so I can have correct measurements. I have 2-D drawings and CADs. Tried to make quick features for alignments but for some reason it's not working. Do you have any ideas where to begin? I appreciate your help.

Pipes are something completely different... I'd say it depends on the drawing with datum systems etc.

Could you give us an example of a print (remove any logos/names/important stuff from it)?

Layed out as drawing views in machines X-axis:
Datum A (cylinder) as primary (X), origin in Y & Z
Datum A (cylinder) to datum B (cylinder) in Y
X origin in plane D

Datum C (C1) is confusing though, I don't really understand what that datum would be good for.

This is according to the drawing you posted, is the final assembly different with different datums then that's another story.

Well, this assumes that you are somewhat familiar with PC-DMIS, at least being able to probe the part. You need to know how to measure cylinders and planes for this one. Do you have CAD for the part?

Don't forget to hit the <END> key on the keyboard when you have probed your features (to end/complete the measurement).
