Just wanted to put some feelers out there and see if anyone had any issues similar. We are trying to figure out where to look to maybe troubleshoot.
We have a Leica Laser Tracker 401. We just had it calibrated a month ago and everything was fine and came back great. We had been using the machine to measure and it was working properly, no issues. Then randomly we started having some issues getting the machine to initialize "properly." As in, the head is not spinning at the same rate or speed, and as it was in the middle of initializing the head would also begin to flicker back and forth while on the reflector target as well as not centering the beam. When manually turning the head, it does feel like it does not spin as freely as it use to. It feels like it is getting "stuck" at a certain point on the 360 spin, but once it gets passed the difficult area, it spins normally. Almost as in it is getting "gauded" up on the spin at a certain point.
I tried some different things here such as changing out different cords and we were still seeing the same results. I also change different reflectors, and again, still the same issue.
#1 if you are using the lithium batteries to power. Charge batteries 100% before every use.
#2 Using tracker pilot home machine then initilize. Shut down tracker pilot. Noow initilize using PC DMIS. This is how I have gotten best results.
