PCDMIS Vision VS OPG Measuremind

Has anyone used MeasureMind software for OGP? I would like to know what are your opinions on Measuremind vs PCDMIS Vision. Thanks!!!
  • Yes, MeasureMind sucks and is a pain to troubleshoot and edit. They have multiple add-ons to edit the programs but it is still ridiculous. It is not going to be anything like what you have. OGP is a nice vision system just bad software. I assure you that you will not like it. If I were you I would look at a new optiv system with pcdmis. That gives you the capabilities to program faster since you already know the software basics. MeasureMind is more of a simplistic software with no real intent to modify programs, somewhat similar to Nikon. They are more made to just walk up and program.

    Yep.
  • It's been a while, how have you been JCC? I hope everything is going well for you. Unofortunately they bought the OGP with MeasureMind. I've tried and don't like it at all for the resons you mentioned. I thought it was just me so I wanted to hear others people opinions. They stil lhave not paid so I am trying to convince them to keep the OGP and buy PCDMIS Vison. No luck yet. One of the engineers keep saying how easy is but nor realising you can have wrong alignmet and there is no way to tell. Thanks for your input. Nice to hear from you.

I have used this software on and off since Windows 3.1 and I have used PC-DMIS quite extensively on a CMM. I have never had the opportunity to try PC-DMIS on an OGP or any other optical system so I don't know what advantages or disadvantages it has here. For the OGP software I am assuming you are referring to the newer MeasureMind3D and not the older MeasureMind.

I think both have software quirks but nothing that that would prevent you from using it. For example it is extremely rare to see MeasureMind3D crash where PC-DMIS might be more prone to imploding. The user interface for MeasureMind3D is a bit dated and works in odd ways sometimes. PC-DMIS would allow you to make better use of a cad model. The alignments work quite differently between the two.

Since you already bought the machine give it a chance, it might grow on you.

Couldn't exactly the same words be used to describe PC-DMIS?

You could, but if you haven't worked with MeasureMind then you cant appreciate how much of a PITA it is to edit a program especially one with a lot of features. I like the OGP system but when it comes to the package I would take PcDmis all day. It always makes me laugh when people complain about PcDmis and the crashing (which I have experienced alot) but forget that it runs so many different platforms. Do I wish it had less problems sure but I do like the fact that I can get someone comfortable with one version of PcDmis and then with some slight training and time they can run something else. Just my opinion.....

    I agree completely.
But don't try to run PC-DMIS on the OGP system. I've read several other posts wihich basically sum it up as "I dosen't work">
  • Whats weird is I have heard that to. I heard for a while it would work fine, but as you dove into it and asked questions found out differently.
  • Sorry I should of specified better, the software is Measure Mind 3D. Thanks guys for all your inputs. Still trying to find at list something that would make me like the software, but have not found anything yet.
