Vision coordinates to touch probe

I heard it was possible to capture the center coordinates of a feature and feed them to the touch probe.

Example:

I'm looking down on a cube, the camera captured the edges and determined the center.
Now I want my touch probe to locate the cube using the coordinates captured by the camera to go and measure the z height.

I heard it was possible but was never shown how.

  • You can capture an approximate Z height with the top or ring light. Create an alignment with the Z-axis to that point, then the X-Y location based on the edges. Go grab your probe and the probe should easily locate the Z based on the alignment.

    As long as your probe offset is all calibrated, take the points you want around your cube with I am assuming backlight. Before you move onto your probe switch to your toplight and take a "Surface Point" on the top of your cube with your vision and make that your Z origin in your alignment. The probe will know exactly where to go.
