I don't really see anywhere to post about hardware so I think this is as good as it gets.
Long story short I want to upgrade our current Optiv 2z763. This machine has been awesome for what we use it for. This is a vision and a touch probe machine. None of the programmers at my facility had ever used the CAD feature of PC-Dmis CAD++. I however am slightly more tech savvy and was able to learn how to export our engineering models from Solidworks to PC-Dmis with no problems at all and have since somewhat preferred to program this way using CAD models. However, the issue that I run into that is very much a headache is CPU/RAM power. I find when I am uploading, manuevering, programming, analyzing data all on my PC it is suspetable to crashes and freezing.
I noticed after a short time that the PC we run our machine on runs in 32-bit! I was told by the man that calibrates our machine that this bottle neck is due to what they call the "Frame Grabber"
Does anyone know if you can run 64-bit with a vision machine nowadays?
I believe that you should look at the video card (Matrox, IDS or NI...), and search drivers.
You can also read the docs on Frame Grabber on this link... Maybe you will find the good parameters...
Have a good week-end, all !
