Offline Programming - Vision/White Light Sensor Scanning Points

Good Morning Gentlemen,

I am starting to try and program routines offline using Vision. Some of the routines I am trying include Vision points for alignments and then proceeding with white light scanning for the features of interest. My constructed features for alignments like a Line for my rotation using Edge points fails because of the math, or basically lack of actual points.

How difficult is it to switch between points taken on the actual part versus on the CAD and mingling between the two? Is this even possible?
For example my alignment with Vision on the part and setting up my Scanning paths on my CAD. I only ask this because scanning is way easier on CAD but I have managed without it.

I have zero experience with trying to program Vision offline let alone scanning. I also do not have much experience with CAD programming but i know the basic rules of it, and I have never programmed a Vision routine to a CAD model either.

Would I just be better off dealing and going online?

Wouldn't you set up both on the CAD model, and then relate both to the part?

  • When I program Vision offline, I set up everything I need to measure, the paths, the points etc. Then once it's cmplete I'll go through the painstaking process of relaying it to the machine; adjusting the lighting and the focus, dark to light vs light to dark, etc etc.

Scanning paths should be similar, setting it up on the cad and fine tuning it to the part, right?
