PC-DMIS CAD x64 Versions crashes

Hi to all,
I am running
PC-DMIS CAD 2017 R1 SP8 (x86) on all our Optiv classic 443s, I have installed 2017 R2 x64 version and it installs OK but when I run it it crashes, tried with 2018 R1 SP3 and it also crashes. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
  • What version of windows are you running
And there are a LOT of differences between x86 and x64. You probably won't be able to just "run"

    EDIT:
You're attempting to upgrade an OPTIV, to a NEW VERSION of the software, in an entirely different ARCHITECTURE, all by yourself?
  • What version of windows are you running: Win 7 Pro x64
You're attempting to upgrade an OPTIV, to a NEW VERSION of the software, in an entirely different ARCHITECTURE, all by yourself? They had V2017 Release when new from factory, currently running 2017 R1 SP8 which is the last x86 release available. The issues that I have is that I can't run in protected mode, it crashes with x86 and x64 versions.
  • This is a whole can of worms, sir.
Getting an Optiv up and running alone is a BlTCH.
Have you contacted a Hex-a-Tech to Czech out the situation?

There's too many variables involved to get by without their help.
Do you have all of the right DLL's? Did you install the Vision Interface? Did you backup/restore the settings editor? Did you make note of any file location changes between x86 and x64? Etc, etc, etc..
  • Could this be the answer? :

    From the release notes:

About the 64-Bit and 32-Bit Versions: The following items are only supported in the 32-bit (x86) version of the software; they are not available in the 64-bit version. If you need this functionality, you will need to install a version of PC-DMIS that supports a 32-bit version (such as PC-DMIS 2017 R1).
•Vision (MEI, QVI, ROI, TESAI++, and TESAVISIO
  • You would need to contact someone from Hexagon to take a look.
It depends on the framegrabber, machine, how much money you put into it, etc.
  • Looks like I'll be taking this leap as well.
Mgmt is getting a new desktop, with a new operating system (x64 ftw!), and barely access to the original hard drive! (but it's there)

So i'll probably share my experience into the whole ordeal; Hexagon's coming out at the end of the month for calibration, and they mise'well take a look at the setup.
Fortunately, our IT guys are eventually going to bring the desktop over and I'll have plenty of time to muck around with the software AND the hardware Smiley

Not necessarily the same problems you're having; I was under the impression you had an x86 operating system, and were attempting to install x64 PC-DMIS on it and wondered why it didn't work.
    Lol!

I don't know about not being able to enter protected mode; that sounds like an issue somewhat unrelated to moving to new versions, assuming you can run programs and the like just fine on said newer version.
Search around the forum for specifically that issue, "protected mode crashes" or something like that

    Lol!

    It is X64, not x86.
  • I know; I was merely reiterating that I had mistakenly understood that was the case, and meant to apologize for doing so.

Can you work without protected mode?
    Did you get it resolved?
  • Fixed now, Hexagon sent me a file (PC-DMIS-Interface_Setup_CD_8.0.20) with instructions for the PC-DMIS x64 versions install.
