Machine Reads CAD before Real World Alignment.

Below image capture shows my final hurdle. I don't, conceptually, understand how the machine reads the CAD alignment when I told it to read my my real-world alignment. It works if I do not select CAD=Part, but then I am unable to use program mode on the CAD.

  • When you import a CAD model PC-Dmis matches the CAD origin and axes directions to STARTUP - there is no CAD to PART relationship established at this point. When you measure features and create alignments you establish a relationship between the part and the CAD. This is why you need to ensure the nominals (THEO values) for your features match what the are in the CAD model. I can't see what your THEO values are for CIR1 but I suspect from the co-ordinates in the execution window they are 0,0,0 which would be the machines home position - hence the error. You are also trying to directly drive to a feature in DCC mode prior to creating any alignment so PC-Dmis has no way of knowing where the part is within the machine volume. You need to create a manual alignment first - even if it is just a readpoint taken after manually focusing on the centre of the hole. Once you have done that everything should snap into place.
