Sample Program

Hey everyone, i'm new to the vision side of PC-DMIS and was wondering if someone has created a test program for the ever popular test block? We have a VISIO 300 dcc machine in our facility for a couple of days and I would like to see it operate. If nobody has one would it be possible for someone to whip up something simple for me, I know it's a lot to ask but if we can make it work we might be able to talk the boss into purchasing it. Thanks in advance.Smiley
  • Hi James,

I may be able to help with a sample part program - is your "ever popular test block" of the metal (BSBlock.IGS) variety, or the newer plastic HexBlock variety?

As you know pc-dmis already, you should not have too much trouble. You can start it up, load in your cad file, and program from cad as if you're on a cmm. As you'll have a Vision probe, it will create vision probe features instead.

You select features from the auto feature toolbar, as normal.
If you've never used the Probe Toolbox, you'll need that open so you can change your machines illumination and zoom settings.

Assuming there's no optional touch probe fitted on the machine, then there's nothing you can damage from playing around a bit. Enjoy!
  • The old style block.
Are the steps for doing alignments and dimensioning the same. Can you get me something by the end of the day?
  • Hi James, I'll see what I can do.

Yes, alignments and dimensioning is identical to the contact world.
  • James, if you PM me with your email address, I'll send you a quick demo part program I produced offline that should get you going.

Note, Vision machines are usually used to measure smaller features than those on the DemoPart. There should be a small (1 1/2 inch square) slide that is with the Visio. If you throw that on the stage, adjust the lighting (on the Probe Toolbox) and move the camera so you can see a feature it on the Live View (tabbed with the Cad View), open up auto circle and double click on a circle on the live view, and create with Measure Now active, that will show you another side to the software.

The Vision online help that's installed should be useful to get you started.
