Sheffield circular movement move Non-smooth probe movement choppy

*reposting this so its easier to search/find*

When the Setting Editor is opened, look for Sheffield

Scroll down you will see 'Circular Movement' and set it to be " TRUE ", then save the settings.

Now circular move should work.
  • Unless you are the lucky owner of a MP-35 measurement processor, in which case circular moves are not supported and you are stuck with the choppy motion.

that sucks if you have an older controller.

we have 7 Sheffields and circular movement works for holes on all of them but not while calibrating unless you change this line argument.
  • We have one SMP400 and one MP35. The difference in speed of execution and smoothness of movement is dramatic. The MP35 not only will not support circular moves but it communicates at a much slower baud rate so it pauses slightly before EVERY movement. AND the top speed is slower so every program automatically runs at 2/3 speed! I'm sure they thought they were saving money by only upgrading one machine and I'm also sure that we have paid for the upgrade several times over in lost productivity as a result.
