Window Layout

With PCDmis, when going form an older Ver to a new Ver, is it possible to carry-over the Window layout settings?

I’m thinking that these are held in a configuration file, and by copying the file from the old Ver to the new, will bring these in.

  • Technically, yes you can (for example) copy the files from C:\Users\<login name>\AppData\Local\WAI\PC-DMIS\2015.0 to C:\Users\<login name>\AppData\Local\Hexagon\PC-DMIS\2016.0 but it is definitely not recommended. For one thing, you will miss new menu items, and there are quite a lot of bug reports solved by removing those configuration files and starting from scratch again (= Reset User in Settings Editor).

Sorry my friend but this is an area of frustration from all levels of programmers. Settings stay from the most part within the same software year but when you go from lets say 2016 to 2017, without upper level stuff being done you pretty much have to re-do those types of settings. =/ Happy programming.
