Here we go again

How come when I get a value of none in the Cpk column of the Capability chart yet it also calls out "Y" for Cpk capable? If it is stating Yes for capable should it not kick out a value? Confusing. SPC = Some Parts Conform LOL

NO variation will give an error for Cpk (Divide by zero), that might be why you are getting a NONE. THAT, or you need to change a setting in Datapage.

OPTIONS ~ SPC CALCULATIONS ~ CAPABILITY THREASHOLD

Do you have CALCULATE CAP when out of control marked AND Calculate for unilateral tolerance marked?

Thanks Matt ~ Just went into the options pages and forced it to calulate a CPK when out of control. I am getting more familar with the settings and software. Sorry for my lack of familiarity.

PS > Don't see alot of feedback in the Datapage forum ~ Feel like not too many are involved with Datapage or they are using another software. Or people just don't have SPC requirements. We are iso certified and need to have a process control in place as a scorecard for process improvement. Are you using SPC or another process control?

    YES.

    Does that help?

I have Datapage, have had it since DOS days. I use it, but I don't use it. Used to use it 100%, reports & charts. Now, it gets used simply as a data collection 'device', I dump the data out of Datapage into Excel. This gives me a more common file for ease of email. I used it to verify ALL my calcualtions in Excel, they all match, but if anyone questions my numbers (which would ONLY be customers), I can pop up a report/chart in Datapage and they then shut up. They never question a second time (he says as he wipes the blood off the axe).

We are not production so I don't have to do any long run studies, but before a customer will buy off the tool, the SPC they will be monitoring must be passing on the tools, so that is all I use it for.
  • We use it for PPAP and annual submissions.
  • People don't use SPC nearly as much as they should, and often quality engineers are in charge of it and they want to use Minitab or Excel but think of it after all the parts are measured.

I think also some of the Datapage questions get asked in the CMM forum.
