Monitor Mode, Part 2

I am still having trouble setting this up. I am trying to get the run chart to work, when I click on it, nothing happens. I may just wait for the new version to come out, hopefully that may be a little more user friendly.

Anybody have a step-by-step on setting this up??

Thanks in advance.
  • If you have a space in the database path, this will probably happen. The parser for the macro created does not know how to handle that. It assumes a string for a path with no spaces. Look at the ".mac" file generated to see if that is the case (it is a text file that you should be able to read via notepad).
  • I think in the DP or DV directory.

    When all else fails, so a search for the *.MAC files.
  • Here is what the .mac file says:

    Database C:\DataPage\NEW;
    Part 5710_INC_INSP;
    Variable T34.Y;
    Process;

    Not sure what that means.
  • Here is what the .mac file says:

    Database C:\DataPage\NEW;
    Part 5710_INC_INSP;
    Variable T34.Y;
    Process;

    Not sure what that means.

    As a break-down of what I can get out of that....

    Database being used is located at C:\Datapage\New and in that directory, there will be all the database files.

    Part is the program name as seen at the top of the program in the EDIT (full command) window, 5710_INC_INSP

    It is working with the variable T34.Y

    It is telling Datapage to PROCESS the new data

    That's all I can tell you, so:
    1) IS your database located in the C:\DATAPAGE\NEW directory?
    2) IS the part name correct?
    3) IS there a feature T34 in the program and does it have the Y axis being reported
    4) Obviously it is not processing for some reason, otherwise you wouldn't be asking for help. WHY it is not, I do not know, but does any of this help?

    Yeah, all of that is correct. Maybe I'm asking too much. If I have monitor open, can I see a run or process chart in real time?? Our customer is asking how does an operator know if he or she is running out of control?? We are looking at having Monitor mode open along with PCDMIS, as a part is run, the operator can look at monitor mode (run and or process chart) and see if they are in control. Is this all a pipe dream??

    Thanks for the help.

    It is my understanding that MONITOR is "real time", or as "real time" as it gets with Datapage. There is a setting for SET UPDATE TIMER and such, I think that is what determines how often MONITOR updates with all new data. I don't think it does any kind of an automatic update everytime it get new data, for every part, but does it on a timed cycle. You can crank the cycle time down to as low as it will go, maybe that will get what you need?

    Yeah, i got that to work. Just trying to get the run chart to show up. Maybe I'll wait for the new version and see what happens with that.
  • open/execute the mac file in DP to see if there is an error message.
    PROCESS means it is going to run a process chart. See if DP can generate one using the data you are giving it.
  • In Monitor mode (I think it's pretty obvious in the help) the part names and variables turn colors based on whether you are in/out of control and in/out of tolerance. Running it puts up a screen that shows you all parts, and all characteristics of a specific clicked on part with the live calculations.
