Database software

Hi Gents
This probably doesn't belong in this forum but a lot more people read this one! Slight smile We are running a DEA with V3.7mr3 and datapageV3.33. We have also recently bought a romer arm with V2010mr3. The primary function of the arm will not be routine measurement, however we do need to run some parts into a database. Is there a way of keeping only one datapage database and updating it from a different computer?

Thank you!
  • Moved, but with a redirect from the CMM forum. I think everyone watches all new posts, just the threads in CMM get more play cause of their content.

All versions of Datapage are network able. In your version of Datapage the most reliable way is using the "Autoupdate" utility with the Stats/Transfer command (how to use it is in both the PC-DMIS help and the Datapage help, use "search". If you have an extremely reliable network, you can directly update a Database on the network too, just keep backups in case the network fails in the middle of a write.

The newer version (Datapage+) is designed to use network based SQL databases as well, and do WebReporting and all sorts of fun stuff.
  • I ran into an issue I recently posted (last week) and I beleive it originated from having two CMM's reporting to the same database folder. It caused an error 19 but I think what caused it is both CMM's were reporting to the same database at the same time and through the same network. I cant prove thats what happened but I beleive its what started the error.
  • See my prior message (different thread) - ALL database paths must be exactly the same if multiple computers are accessing the database across a network. This is how the locking works. This includes the local computer where the database resides. If 1 uses "S:\database\path" all must use "S:\database\path".
