I'm trying to Prep for the move to Windows 7 & upgrading Pcdmis & D/Page+ but our IT Dept. says for security reasons we'll need an independent SQL Server at a cost of $40,000! Doesn't make sense to me, especially since we only have one seat of Pcdmis actually sending to D/Page at the moment. I've been touting the benefits of D/Page & D/View to the powers that be, but after reading the above comments, maybe I should be looking for a reporting alternative. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
You'd need SQL Express which is free. Your IT department is just trying to secure some capital. Slap em around a little!
