Datapage+ & GD&T

OK, I posted this a while back and still haven't found the solution, so I thought I'd try again. I have datapage+ version 2011. The problem is, any GD&T callouts created using exact measure are not picked up by Datapage. It will only grab legacy dimensions...wondering if this is a setting somewhere? I've been told Datapage should be gathering info regardless of method used to generate it....Thx

  • Make sure the output is toggled to "BOTH" OR "STATS"

I know the latest version of Datapage+ does pick up the Exact FCF dimensions. I don't remember too much from 2011 as I consider the software was still beta at this time so I didn't use it too much (it was better than 4.1 for sure!).

Since you are running an older version of Datapage+ I assume you also have an older version of PC-DMIS. If you *only* have the option to use the external command to read the data (i.e. your version of PC-DMIS didn't support the Datapage+ stats/on command) maybe it is doing this by design? Maybe it can't read the older versions properly? For this version of Datapage+, regardless of the version of PC-DMIS, you should probably stick to the external command method as there were too many problems with the other method.

Edit: As mentioned above, Make sure the output is toggled to "BOTH" OR "STATS"

One thing you can check to isolate the source of the problem is to look at the raw XML stats files created by the DatapageStats external command. If it contains Exact FCF dimension data than the problem is with Datapage+ and if it is missing then the problem is with either the version of PC-DMIS or something related to the DataPageStats program. At least you will know what to focus on.

    Edit: As mentioned above,

  • Thx for the replies. I do have the output set to "BOTH" and am using "stats/on & stats/off"...this raw XML stat file you speak of...where is it located???
  • You won't have an XML file using the stats/on command (unless you enable the offline option from the stats/on command).

The XML files will be in a sub folder called 'ForStatsFiles'. It used to be in the installation folder but then it was moved into the users folder (c:\users\...). You will have to search for that one.

I would try using the other method to transfer data (adding the external command at the end of the program to run 'datapagestats.exe' then use DataImporter to process the XML files created by the first program). It might solve your problem and it was also the method Hexagon recommended to use for your version of the software.

Aight, I'll give it a whirl when I get a couple free minutes...Thx
  • The path where Datapage+ stores your XML files is located at:

    C:\Users\(User_NAME)\AppData\Roaming\DataPage+\ForStatsFiles

The external command method definitely does dump the Xact dimensions. Let me know if you still are having problems.

Yes, there are XML files in this directory. How do I get them from here to datapage?...If I use the "Stats/on" I can F9 and select the appropriate database and measurements show up in datapage, however using "externalcommand" it appears the measurements got no farther than the directory you suggested. I'm obviously overlooking something because nothing shows up in datapage....not that familiar with external command function
  • Can you post the code for the external command that is in your program?

You need to run the utility program 'Data Importer'. It is part of Datapage and should be accessible from the menu.

When this is running it will check for these XML files periodically. You can configure how often it checks (or you can force it to check immediately). Once started, it will stay running and appear in the system tray.
