Auto circle

if i position my probe just above a bore, some where near central, then insert a read point, then origin to that read point in xyz. why cant i then use an auto circle to measure the bore by typing in the circle features as x=0 y=0 z=-3, i think the vectors are correct, it all looks good on the graphics but the probe just moves to the right at the same height, not at z=-3

  • Sam going by what you wrote I think your alignment isn't set up correctly. You would need to measure a plane on the top surface. Level in Zplus and orient Z to that plane. Then create a line and skew/rotate to it. Make sure they line created is pretty much the same as your X-axis. Rotate X about Z to that line. Now you can create the read point and orient to X and Y to that read point. The reason why the probe goes right is because it thinks the right side of your part is Z- and the left side is Z+. With Auto features you need a full alignment done for it to work right. You can't just orient as the part can still rotate in any direction.
  • Well first off this is in the wrong forum. This should be in the PC-DMIS for CMM forum.

But I have a feeling your auto feature has a depth/offset of +3 or so that's canceling your manual offset.
  • I believe we already covered this, in the same exact thread, posted in the appropriate forum, a few days ago. Although, the OP never did come back and say whether the issue was resolved.
